Have You Lost Touch??
Have you lost touch with your email subscribers list?
Do you send out tons of emails and get no engagement?
Very little Opens? Hardly any clicks?
Pretty frustrating isn’t it?
Did you know that some of your dead beat lists can literally be harming your deliverability to the people that actually may want to see your emails? It’s true!! Many auroresponders and email providers flag your email address when you get very little interaction or engagement from your lists. They start to flag you as SPAM even though you may be sending out relevant content.
I just learned this too, so don’t feel so bad.
Bottomline is that the solo ad you bought that had a ton of dead beat optins could literally be hurting your emails big time. Not only are they taking up valuable time, space and energy on your list, they are literally preventing your emails from getting to real fans who actually may want your stuff.
Luckily you know me and I know a lot of people who are a lot smarter than I am and I have a few tips that I just learned from my buddy Adam that may help you weed out some of these dead beats.
Here are a few reason why you need to create some sort of re-engagement campaign to get your list to start interacting and engaging again. The point is to get them to start opening emails and clicking on links or getting them the heck off your list.
1. Most autoresponder providers charge per subscriber. The more subscribers you have the more you’ll pay. So these dead beats are actually costing you money. THEY NEED TO GO!!!!
2. Non engagement from your list hinders your deliverabilty and causes you to be flagged as SPAM by the likes of Gmail, Yahoo and other email providers. They don’t care what your posting or sending, they just see a large amount of your emails sitting around and not being opened. That’s a red flag. They think no one wants to read your stuff, but in reality they might just be bogus email addresses. THEY NEED TO GO TOO!!!
3. A re-engagement campaign is a great way to purge your list and get some action going back there with your list. Remember that you paid for this list at some level. Whether it was through solo ads, or any other paid marketing source, you paid for it and you deserve better. You deserve a responsive list that is willing and ready to sift through your valuable content and get great results form your stuff.
4. This is also a great way to get rid of fake email addresses and uniterested and unengaged readers. You won’t want to be wasting energy and brilliant copywriting on some dead beat anyway do you?? Run a successful re-engagement campaign and you can get back to your true fans and get back to work on creating great content for them.
A few things you can do to try to get a little re-engagement is to start sending compelling emails to subscribers who haven’t opened your emails in a while. Let’s say 45-60 days. Start by sending a few emails with killer headlines just to see if there is still a heart beat in that list.
Send out a series of emails for a few days and see what you get as a response, being sure to purge your segmented list as you start to get clicks.
You don’t want to continue to pepper the subscribers that re-engage as you run through your campaign.
Schedule your emails to deliver for a few days. As your campaign starts to draw to a close, be sure to throw in some scarcity and urgency, by letting them know that they WILL be removed form the list if they don’t engage. Be nice, but be firm. Kind of like Patrick Swayze in “Road House”. Remember we are trying to get the dead beats off your list.
After you feel as though your re-engagement campaign has run it’s course, then it’s time to purge your list of all the dead beats and make room for some real fans and customers.
Now obviously, there is a right way and there is a wrong way to run a successful re-engagement campaign. There are certain things that you need to set up first before you just go ahead and tackle this kind of campaign. There are specific things that you need to say in your email and clever headlines that will get some action from your list.
If done correctly, a re-engagement campaign can be very powerful.
However, the exact specific details to running a re-engagement campaign successfully are outside of the scope of this post and of my expertise.
But like I said above, your lucky to know me and I’m lucky to know people who are much smarter than I am when it comes to these things.
Introducing Adam Chandler. I had the pleasure of meeting Adam a few months back at a marketing event in Orlando Florida. Cool dude, knows his stuff. He is a full time marketer and knows a thing or two about email marketing. (maybe even three).
He just recently launched an advanced email marketing course that I am currently taking and it’s amazing.
It has made me realize how much I DON’T know about email marketing and how vital it is to the success of my business.
I mean, what’s the point of attracting leads if you can’t leverage your list to make sales right?
Anyway, check out Adam’s new program. You’ll lget tons of value from it.
Oh and BTW I am not affiliated with this product. I just think it’s kick ass and I know you need it.
I’m not sure if it’s still available or not, but I would at least get on his list in case he decides to release it again.
Please leave a comment below if you got any value from this post. I’d love to get some feedback on how I can bring you more cool stuff.. and don’t forget to check out Adam’s stuff above…
